Victor Bukovecky Celebrates St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church 100th Anniversary
Much like other Byzantine churches, St. Mary was founded by Rusyn immigrants who had come to America to start a new life and “the first order of business, when Rusyns settled in a community, was to band together and solicit monies to build a new church.” That’s just what they did. The new parish of St. Mary in Manville, NJ was incorporated in 1917.
