Volunteer Donations

October 7, 2020

In an effort to capture information on how all of our members volunteer their time within their communities, GCU began an online program this year asking members to record their volunteer time each month. As a thank you to those members that submit their volunteer hours, a drawing for Amazon gift cards is held monthly. In addition each quarter, all the members that have submitted volunteering information are placed in a drawing for two $100 donations that are made to an organization they volunteer with in their name by GCU. The second quarter drawing winners were:

Eva Anderson-Erb of Wisconsin and Sherri Homanko of Pennsylvania.
In a thank you note received from Tamera Schutz, director of the Pioneer Village Museum, she writes, “thank you GCU for the wonderful donation your organization made to the Pioneer Village Museum. As you can imagine, it is greatly needed and appreciated, this year more than most. It is a large museum with a small budget with one full-time employee and operated primarily through donations like yours and through volunteers like Eva. Eva works at the gate every Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine. I really don't know how we would get along without her. She is a vital part of our organization. Thank you for honoring her service this way. It means a lot.”

Sherri requested that her $100 donation be made by the GCU to the Conyngham Valley Civic Organization (CVCO) in Conyngham, PA. The donation was used towards startup costs for a drive-through chicken dinner sale. Over 400 meals were sold with proceeds benefitting the community pool, gymnasium and youth programming.
