Helping Hands Day at Holy Annunciation Monastery-Sugarloaf, PA
Helping Hands Day at Holy Annunciation Monastery on Saturday, June 1, 2019 began with a Divine Liturgy cele-brated by Msgr. Nicholas Puhak. Then it was time to get down to do some chores on the property.
Mother Marija and all the Sisters had a whole bunch of activities lined up for the volunteers. There was plenty of grass to be cut, edging of the grass, weed whacking and trimming some of the trees.
It was time to prepare the bulbs for the fall, take off the dead leaves off the rhodendron bushes, plant flowers and help clean up the debris from the fall and winter.
For those who can’t work outside, there were plenty of boxes to be made, Hershey kisses to unwrap and rai-sins to be cleaned.
After all the work was completed, it was time for a pizza luncheon, homemade dessert and of course some good old fashion fraternalism among everyone. We got to meet Sister Katherine and Kristina's relatives from Slovakia. We presented Helping Hands Day t-shirts to their families and made them honorary members for the day.
Donations were made to Mother Marija by GHRL, District 5 and individuals.
Thanks to the Home Office for the t-shirts!
The fall Helping Hands Day will be Saturday, October 26. All are welcome to come out to help the Sisters pre-pare their grounds for the winter season.
