The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank services charitable organizations by providing food to alleviate hunger and promote proper nutrition, particularly among children and the elderly. The Food Bank provides food assistance to Faith-based and 501(c)3 non-profit community organizations to distribute to needy families throughout Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties.

I checked out the food bank and joined in with the Red Rock Job Corps Center to help pack boxes of food for senior citizens. Debbie Taylor, Volunteer Coordinator, explained there is always a need for volunteers so I encourage anyone looking to get involved to join the GCU during our first Team GCU Pack The Box volunteer day at the food bank coming up on January 20th from 9 AM- 12 noon.
