Jozef & Irene Bobik Celebrate 75th Wedding Anniversary

January 7, 2020 was the 75th Wedding Anniversary of Jozef & Irene Bobik. Jozef was born on March 18, 1922 in Kozucdhov, Czechoslovakia and his wife, Irene was born on September 7, 1927 in Roebling, NJ. They were married in St. Steven’s Roman Catholic Church in Trenton, NJ.

Jozef's parents, John & Elizabeth (Girman) Bobik were born in Austria Hungary and lived in Trenton, NJ where they were members of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church and the GCU. John was very active in the GCU for many years both as a lodge secretary and president. They had five children.
Jozef & Irene Bobik are the parents of three children. Dr. J. Marc, the oldest (74) is still working as a podiatrist. His younger brother, Dr. Dennis Robert (71) is a retired podiatrist. A sister, Deborah Beth (65) is married to Terry Hayes and lives in California. Marc has two sons, Marc and Ted. Dennis two daughters, Stephanie and Denise. Deborah has one daughter, Amanda. In 1956 they brought Ann Csaszar a cousin and Hungarian refugee, to live with them. They have seven great and two great-great grandchildren.

Jozef fulfilled his father's hopes and dreams when he attended college to become a teacher. He was a secondary education teacher for 26 years and a principal for 23 years. Jozef received a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his master’s degree and was voted entrance into the doctoral program. During World War II, Jozef enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a private. He was commissioned an officer after "boot" camp and served as a G-2 in the Second Division. Twenty eight years later, he retired from the reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Irene had an interior decorating business and employed two people. While her husband was on active duty for fifteen summers, Irene raised the children and took care of the lawn and house. Jozef would come home on the weekends.

Jozef is 97 and lives with his son, Marc. Irene is 92 and lives at Pocopson Home, a nursing facility, where her husband visits daily.

Irene came from a family of eleven and is the only living member; Jozef has a brother, John living in Florida and a sister, Eleanor living in New Jersey.

Jozef is a member of Lodge 15 in Trenton, NJ.
