Helping Hands Day
Members of Lodge 945 in Dunmore traveled to Holy Annunciation Monastery in Sugarloaf, PA on June 2, 2018 to take part in the GCU Helping Hands Day. Those participating included GCU National Director George Kofel, Sharon Kofel, Boris Shihinski, Brandon Shihinski and Chris Zayac. After a morning of hard work, volunteers were treated to pizza and refreshments. Everyone especially enjoyed the delicious variety of baked cookies the Carmelite Sisters are famous for.
    The GCU has designated the Carmelite Nuns as their beneficiary for a 2018 Special Matching Funds Grant. Lodge 945 utilized this grant by conducting a fundraiser which raised $801.63. With the Matching Funds provided by the GCU, Lodge 945 donated $1,603.26 to Holy Annunciation Monastery.

Flag Day Ceremony
Lodge 945 held a Flag Day Ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church in Dunmore, PA after the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, June 10, 2018. Military Veteran William Danalich let the group in the Pledge to the Flag. GCU National Director George Kofel delivered a brief history of the flag and the origination of Flag Day to the 20 plus adults and children in attendance. Adults were given a flag lapel pin while the children were given red, white and blue pinwheels. A poem card entitled “Our American Flag” with a lapel flag attached was also passed out to parishioners attending the June 9 & 10 weekend Liturgies
