Pre-Lenten Dinner
St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church held a Pre-Lenten dinner on Sunday, February 23, 2020 in the church hall following Pre-Lenten services. Lodge 945 utilized money available from the GCU Fraternal Grant program to provide beverages and desserts. Thank you to GCU HQ for providing giveaways for those in attendance.

Lodge Matching Funds Program
Currently, Lodge 945 has initiated three matching fund programs: a Community Matching Fund event to benefit the Byzantines Nuns of Sugarloaf, PA; a Parish Expansion Matching Fund event for St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church in North Huntington, PA; and a Non-Byzantine Christian Congregation Matching Fund activity for Immaculate Conception Parish in Scranton, PA. Details on these endeavors will appear in the June Magazine.

Lodge Volunteer Days
Lodge Volunteer Cleanup Days at The Dunmore Walking Trail and Sherwood Park have been postponed. Lodge members will be notified once new dates for the cleanup days have been established.
Helping Hands Day at Holy Annunciation Monastery in Sugarloaf, PA is slated for Saturday, June 6, 2020. Please contact George Kofel at 570-241-2256 or gkofel@gcuusa.com if you are interested in volunteering your time or if you are in need of a ride. Information will be disseminated to volunteers via the GCU website and via phone in the event of a change of date or cancellation.

In closing, I hope and pray as you read this, that all of you are well and we have begun to see a significant decline of cases from the invisible adversary we know as COVID-19. I hope that we are or soon able to once again travel freely, return to work, and attend services in our churches while getting back some normalcy in our lives. Continue to pray for your families and friends along with the safety and well being of the medical teams and emergency responders on the front lines caring for those who have been afflicted. Let us not forget that our Lord is always at our side each and every day. Along with your prayers to our Lord, pray to his Holy Mother, The Blessed Theotokos and ask for her intercession to ease our fears, heal the sick, and rid us of this infectious disease. “With God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26.
