Icons of Archangels Written During Iconography Workshop
Icons of St. Michael the Archangel or the Archangel Gabriel were written during an iconography workshop held the weekend of May 31 to June 2 at St. Nicholas Church in Clinton Township, MI.
Lodge members, parishioners and friends created beautiful icons of their choice of the two archangels as taught by Marylyn Barone, an experienced iconographer who traveled from the Pittsburgh area.
Starting with prototypes and a pre-primed piece of wood, Barone led participants through the process, step by step, so that even those with no experience and/or minimum artistic skills were able to create a beautiful window into heaven.
The weekend workshop cost was subsidized by the lodge, which also provided all the meals.
On the last day of the workshop, all the icons were blessed by pastor, Fr. Joseph Repko, Lodge 860 chaplain.

Old Glory Honored on Its Day
Lodge 860 members, along with parishioners at St. Nicholas Church in Clinton Township, Michigan, celebrated the U.S. flag during a Flag Day event sponsored by the lodge on Sunday, June 9th.
Following a luncheon in the church hall, provided by the lodge, the parish’s Scouting youth led attendees to the flagpole on the parish grounds. There the Scouts, along with parishioner, lodge member and veteran U.S. Marine Corps Gunny Sergeant Duane Vancil, respectfully removed the old flags and ceremoniously raised a new U.S. flag and a P.O.W. flag, both purchased by the lodge. These ceremonies were accompanied by Boy Scout Bugler Fred Swanney playing the appropriate Lowering and Raising of the Colors on his trumpet.
