Lodge 81 August News
Lodge 81’s activities have been curtailed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but members still managed to offer their service at St. John Parish and in the local community.
Service to Church & Community
Stephen Petruska has been reliably cantoring Sunday and feast day services and Liturgies. On Sunday evening, July 18 he cantored the St. Elias Vespers and the blessing of vehicles. A woodcut icon of St. Elias was made by the St. John Ethnic Craft Club for the feast day celebration.
Gerry Dorobish has faithfully assisted Sr. Ruth Plante in the Mt. Macrina Religious Gift Shop on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday from 12:30-3:30 PM. (Hours of operation have been reduced due to the pandemic.)
Gerry & her family members and Bonnie Balas have kept up with weeding and watering the flowers on the Mount St. Macrina grounds.
Bonnie continues assisting shut-ins with groceries and other shopping purchases.
On Sunday evenings Gerry and Bonnie have continued the praying of the Rosary at Mount Macrina Lourdes Grotto with faithful from the local Roman Catholic churches.
The next quarterly meeting is planned for mid-August after the 9 AM Sunday Divine Liturgy.
Car Show Cancelled
The Annual Car Show at St. John Church has been cancelled for September and parishioners are waiting to see if the 39th Annual Carpatho-Rusyn Celebration planned Sunday, October 25, 2020, will be another COVID-19 pandemic cancellation.
