Lodge 644 June News
With Great Sorrow
It is with great sorrow that I begin this article by reporting that Lodge 644 Secretary, Mary Ann Pinto, unexpectedly passed away on March 16. She served the lodge with efficiency and kindness and will certainly be missed. The lodge extends condolences to her entire family as well as all the members she helped during these past years. At present, Sue Irving is serving as secretary and can be reached by calling 330-673-9142.
The April 29 lodge meeting was quite productive, discussing the Helping Hands Project at St. Nicholas Church that was held on May 19 and card party that took place on June 13. Rick Schen volunteered to organize a tour of Walsh College followed by a luncheon in early August. Thus, Lodge 644 will be active this summer.
Now for my special announcement---after 50 years of reporting on Lodge 644 this will be my final article. I appreciate my wife, Patricia, who has done the proof reading of my articles. Patty and I are both thankful for all the wonderful GCU members we have become acquainted with over the years. Rick Schen kindly volunteered to do the publicity beginning July 1. Rick has been an active lodge member contributing to lodge activities in a very positive way. He is retired but serves as a social worker for Cambridge Caretakers in Canton, OH. We wish him well as he begins this new and very interesting phase of lodge activity and certainly look forward to his articles.
As Summer approaches we wish all GCU members a happy and healthy Summer vacation season.
