Lodge 644 August News
For the past several months members of Lodge 644 have been busy at both St. Nicholas parish in Barberton and St. Emilian in Brunswick, OH.
Easter Egg Hunt
On Palm Sunday, April 14, children participated in an Easter Egg Hunt at St Nicholas Parish. Lodge 644 members hid the eggs and the lodge contributed towards the Easter treats.
Helping Hands Project
On Saturday May, 25, members put their garden gloves on and helped St. Nicholas parish groundskeeper Dan Bailey with filling the various large pots around the church. Lodge members at St. Emilian parish have ordered mulch and will be spreading it on a later date. These projects are part of GCU 's annual Helping Hands project.
During the month of June, members of both parishes held games of chance projects as Matching Funds events. On Saturday, June 8 members in Brunswick were dealing cards at St. Emilian Night of the Aces event—it was a great success! On Wednesday, June 12 the St. Nicholas contingent was serving delicious Italian cookies, pasta and salad for the lodge's Italian themed annual card party. The members put a lot of effort in securing door priz-es and making beautiful baskets for the basket drawings.
On Thursday, July 25, Lodge 644 hosted the soup kitchen at the Presbyterian church in downtown Barberton. Members donned their GCU shirts and served 108 dinners to the community needy. The summer themed menu consisted of chicken fingers, homemade macaroni salad, deviled eggs, baked beans and mouth-watering wa-termelon for dessert.
