Lodge 625 April News
During the first quarter of 2019 Lodge 625 was busy with activities with the lodge and parish organizations. The first event this year was Souper Bowl Sunday. Soup & crackers were donated to a local food pantry. The lodge wishes to thank members and the Holy Trinity parish family who donated to the event.
GCU Founders’ Day
On Sunday, February 10, the lodge hosted the annual GCU Founders’ Day Social following the Divine Liturgy. Coffee and donuts were provided by the lodge.
First Quarter Meeting
Sunday, February 24, was the lodge’s first quarter meeting. The lodge auditors were on hand to review the 2018 books and found all to be in good standing. Thank you Mary Dubay and Vickie Svencer for your attention to details. Planning for various 2019 fund raisers and events was discussed.
Matching Funds Dinner
A Matching Funds event was held on Sunday, March 17 at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Conemaugh. The dinner included a stuffed chicken breast, vegetable, mashed potatoes, salad and dessert. A total of 150 dinners were sold for a net profit of $1,000.00.
Lodge 625 supported the St. Ann’s Guild project at the annual Gobfest held at the Johnstown Galleria. Lodge members helped make and ice over 90 dozen gobs for the event, which is a very successful annual fund raiser. Lodge members also supported the Men’s Club with their first ever pirohi sale. Members helped make over 200 dozen pirohi, which quickly sold out.
Junior Bowling Tournament
On March 23, 2019, Lodge 625 hosted the annual Junior Bowling Tournament for children from all lodges of the former District 4 area. While the attendance was low, the children who attended had a lot of fun.
