Lenten Piroghi Sale
St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton, PA held a Lenten piroghi sale on March 6, 2019. Parishioners and friends spent five days preparing working around the winter weather conditions. Nearly 400 dozen potato & cheese piroghies were made to raise funds for parish expenses. Depending on the day, the crew ranged from 5 people to 24 people. The project provided an opportunity for the volunteers to enjoy friendship and camaraderie while raising necessary funds for St. John's. Thanks to all those who volunteered and those who purchased the piroghies.

9th Annual Ham Bingo
St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, with the assistance of GCU Lodge 17, held its 9th Annual Ham Bingo on Sunday, April 4, 2019. This was a Matching Funds project, whereby monies raised at the event were matched by GCU. The funds raised were ear marked to repair/replace the pipes for the restrooms in the St. Nicholas Social Center. GCU key chains with flash lights and pill boxes were distributed to the adults. The children were given GCU Easter coloring and activity books, crayons and jelly beans. There were 171 participants including workers. Twenty hams were given away as bingo prizes, along with rings of kielbasa for the 4 special games. There were 45 baskets awarded as well as door prizes. Besides homemade bake sale items, the kitchen sales included haluski, wimpies, hot dogs/kraut, homemade pizza, pierogis, soda, water, and coffee. Thanks to all the workers, contributors and participants that made the project a success. Thanks to the GCU Home Office for supplying the basket fundraiser tickets, the e-mail blast, the promotional items and the Matching Funds.
