St. Nicholas Celebration
On Saturday evening, December 7, Lodge 109 sponsored a parish dinner to honor St. Nicholas, patron saint of the GCU. The main dish, door prizes and treats for the children were provided by the lodge while parishioners brought side dishes and desserts to share with each other.
Following Liturgy, a short program was performed by Derek Bums and some of the parish youngsters reenacting the drama of the birth of Our Savior Jesus Christ. In Carpatho-Rusin, this Bethlehem Play is referred to as the Jaslichki or Jaslichkari which means visitors to the manger.
After dinner, St. Nicholas made a visit and gave each child a bag of candy and treats provided by the GCU. Many thanks to the Home Office for the Fraternal Grant, coloring books, candy and ornaments.
