GHRL December News
The hillsides and sprawling PA mountains are now barren—what was once beautiful greenery and then fall foliage is now dull. I guess Mother Nature is getting us ready for the winter season. Hopefully, not too much snow and blustery cold days. Remember stay safe, stay home and stay healthy!
Congratulations are extended to Dr. Sherri Homanko as the 2020 GCU Fraternalist of the Year. GHRL honored her at a dinner at Top of the 80's restaurant that was attended by all of the officers and her parents. Secretary/Activities/Athletic Director Agnes Rohrbach was also honored at the dinner on the occasion of her birthday.
After the dinner, an impromptu meeting was held by the officers and it was decided to make monetary donations to all of the parishes in the lodge for the Christmas holidays. Monetary donations were also made to scholarship winners: Veronica Martonik and Maile Erwin. This is usually done at the St. Nicholas dinner, but due to the pandemic, all events were canceled.
With Deepest Sympathy
The GCU Bowling league lost one of its bowlers, Coleen Dubitsky. Deepest sympathy is extended to her family, she was always very active with the bowling league, bowled in many local and national tournaments. She was also a volunteer for many years with the American Cancer Society and will be greatly missed by all.
This has been a very devastating year for all of us, keep in your prayers and thoughts all those who have been devastated (both living and deceased) by the COVID-19 virus and hopefully we will come out of this pandemic very soon.
If your church is open for prayer, stop by and take the time out to say a prayer for everyone (especially all the EMT's, Nurses, Doctors and all professionals) and all the living and deceased that were subject to this virus. May God Bless us all!
Here is wishing the entire GCU world a very Blessed and Merry Christmas and hopefully a very Healthy and Happy New Year. Remember to keep "Christ" in Christmas.
There is no list of activities as of now, we just have to wait it out to see what the future months have in store.
As always, the lodge will try to keep everyone updated on a list of activities, if you are computer savvy, check out the GCU website for updates. If you have any questions, please feel free to give Agnes a call at 570-454-4869 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Until next time, take care and May God Bless.
