Friendsday-Wednesday Soup Sale
On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, Georgia Lehman, her family and other community volunteers supported the December Friendsday-Wednesday Soup Sale benefitting the St. Vincent de Paul Johnstown Family (Soup) Kitchen. Based on the Empty Bowl project where individuals support feeding the poor by purchasing soup and bread as their meal for the day. Georgia and her crew of volunteers made cheese broccoli and stuffed pepper soups. These soups were sold for $7 a quart and $5 a bowl. The GoGive Grant funds were used to purchase the ingredients for the soups. The project also had support from the local NAHL junior hockey team, the Johnstown Tomahawks and their mascot Chopper, who signed autographs and posed for pictures. The event sold 95 quarts of soup and 2 bowls of soup. A total of $675 was presented to Kitchen Manager Greg Karcher, following the event. Georgia would like to thank the GCU Home Office for making the GoGive Grant available and for the support she received from her family and Lodge 625 members who came and purchased soup.
