Annual Golf Tournament
The District 5 annual golf tournament was held on Saturday, August 1 at Sugarloaf Golf Club. The officers and members were excited and appreciative that the tournament could still be held during the pandemic. The owners of Sugarloaf Golf Club, Wayne & Judy Knelly, assured the committee everything would work out. They made sure that not only the golf, but more importantly the food portion of the event adhered to all Pennsylvania COVID-19 guidelines.

The event drew 82 golfers, the most participants in a very long time. It was so good to see old familiar faces and meet new participants. The team of Ed Keil, Keith Hampton, Anthony Shaver and Ryan Hettes had low gross and took home the trophies (engraved clocks), along with a monetary prize. One could not ask for a better day to be outdoors—the weather was perfect for golfing. The tournament concluded with a Pig Roast with all the trimmings, followed by the presentation of tournament winners and a door prize for all. Thanks goes out to the GCU Home Office for the grant for door prizes, GCU cups with sunscreen, hand sanitizer, gum and the preparation of entry forms. Thanks also to the hole sponsors, prize donors and all of the participants. A special thank you to our Pot-of-Gold and Hole-in-One verifier, Janice Dragan, who gave up her Saturday to sit on Hole 17. Save next year’s date, Saturday, August 7, 2021.
